Kayak Flint is part of a return to the Flint River as a mode of transportation and recreation for the community after nearly a century of obstruction. The excitement in the community as a whole is a great opportunity to get residents and visitors on the water, experiencing its beauty for themselves.
That's where Kayak Flint comes in. We make it easy for folks to get on the water through kayak rentals, guided trips, workshops, and shuttling. We provide all necessary equipment. You can just show up and enjoy your trip!

Despite negative stereotypes, the Flint River is an immense natural asset for the citizens of Flint, Michigan. The Riverfront Restoration Plan broke ground in 2018 with the removal of the Fabri Dam and the Hamilton Dam superstructure.
The project will increase access to the river for paddlers downtown through dam passage and riverbank naturalization, as well as stabilizing banks through upgrading storm drain outfalls. The project is creating excitement about the river as a recreational resource. Once complete, the restoration work will enable a paddler to travel from one edge of the city, just downriver from Stepping Stone Falls, to another, at Mott Park, unimpeded and with safe and easy access. The Kayak Flint livery is a project of the Flint River Watershed Coalition and its chapter, the Corridor Alliance. It launched in fall 2018 with great success. Located behind Tenacity Brewing at 119 N. Grand Traverse, the Kayak Flint livery is directly on the Flint River and provides kayak rentals and shuttling to make your adventure on the Flint River as easy and enjoyable as possible. The Kayak Flint livery would not be possible without the support of Dr. Bobby Mukkamala, 119 GT, LLC., Bob Waun, and Bob Schaffer.
All proceeds from Kayak Flint support the work of the Flint River Watershed Coalition, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, to protect, promote, and improve the Flint River and its watershed.
